American businesses constantly grapple with issues of workforce diversity and inclusion—and those words usually are shorthand for being more aggressive in the hiring and advancement of women and people of color. But that idea of workplace inclusiveness is becoming more inclusive, too. As a global company, Xerox Corp. is increasingly pushing for an internationalization of its work force, said Manager of Corporate Diversity Ernest L. Hicks. “And religion is the next horizon,” he told a crowd of public relations executives. Hicks was part of a panel discussion Wednesday put on by the Public Relations Society of America’s Rochester chapter regarding workplace diversity. And the discussion by the panelists — Hicks; Kendal H. Tyre, a partner at Nixon Peabody LLP; and Dawn Borgeest, chief corporate affairs officer for the United Way of Greater Rochester — revolved around what those places are doing to improve diversity.
